Associate Professor Louise Tranekjær from Roskilde University participated in the international conference Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice (ALAPP 2025) in Zurich.
In her presentation, “The Role of Language in Workplace Sustainability,” she shared insights from her fieldwork in the cleaning, laundry, and meat processing sectors, illustrating how language plays a crucial role in collaboration, safety, well-being, and employee retention across linguistically diverse workplaces. These insights have also contributed to the research foundation behind the language learning tool WorkdPlays.
In collaboration with Associate Professor Kevin Reay Wrobetz from Kobe Gakuin University, Louise Tranekjær also presented the documented effects of the WorkdPlays tool among employees at Danish Crown in Denmark in the presentation “Situated Language Learning for Migrant Slaughterhouse Workers Through Digital Games.”
